Welcome to the DogBlog!
Hi Everyone,
In this blog you’ll get to follow the adventures of me (Dove Cresswell), my three amazing dogs and our many other dog friends along the way!
I’ll also share training tips, answer frequently asked questions and add in some fun pictures too!
First of all, I had better introduce the real stars:
Mick, 7 yr old border collie (also known as Mickpup and MickPerfectDog.) Mick is my top dog, he has his own actor’s resume, he’s an accomplished agility dog (2006 AAC National Agility Championship competitor!), a lean mean fetching machine, and a handsome charming guy that wins the heart of all who meet him.

Riot, 3.5 yr old Australian Shepherd (also known as Rottendog.) Riot is one heck of dog! He’s exceptionally smart, but in that conniving manipulative way. I currently train Riot in agility, rally obedience, musical freestyle and sheepherding. He puts in 110% effort into everything he does, which includes running as fast as possible in agility (and knocking bars down), adding his own goofy aussie bounce to obedience and freestyle and occasionally gripping a sheep leg when he thinks I’m not looking!

Muppet, 1.5 yr old mini poodle mix (also known as Mudpit.) Muppet was one of my foster dogs and he just won me over with his happiness and ability to fit in with all other dogs. He’s a hearing impaired dog who just follows around my guys happily seeking attention. Muppet also has aspirations to become the biggest grooming nightmare dog: he rolls in the bush and gets everything stuck in his shaggy hair. I find sticks all over my house later as he pulls them out for his evening chewing pleasure. Muppet is also an upcoming agility superstar! He is easily and confidently learning all the obstacles following my hand signals and we’ll be trialling in agility soon!

Training Tips:
Lately I’ve been getting a lot of e-mails about people having trouble housebreaking (potty training) their puppies. I’ve noticed that A LOT of these puppies were not being crate trained as well, and puppy owners were becoming frustrated with their piddling puppies. Crate training is the easiest and fastest way to effectively housebreak puppies. (Crate Training is covered in Lesson 2 of my lessons at www.dog-training-online.info ) Crate training your puppy saves a world of worry and frustration for owners when they know they are not coming home to a mess, or destruction, and it gives the puppies the best chance at success with every potty time. A puppy who is praised for going outside (because they learn to hold it when crated) ten times in a row is going to form the habit and understand the concept of going outside A LOT faster than a puppy who has accidents in the house five out of ten times and is scolded for it. Help your puppy succeed happily and quickly by crate training!

Fun Dog Stuff:
Mick’s 7th Birthday Party!
The cake, a gourmet liver flavoured “Yappy Barkday” cake with cream cheese icing from the dog bakery.
The birthday party guests: Miss S: “hey Riot’s piece looks bigger” Riot: “just say the darn release word, would you!”, Mick: “yup, that’s MY cake. MY birthday cake.” Muppet: “hey guys, if you wouldn’t mind I’d sure like to have a piece” and Mr.F: “I do get that piece of cake in front of me, right?”
Miss S licks her plate clean!

Your dogs are beautiful. It looks like they had a blast at the party. I’m ashamed to say I have never given any of my dogs a party for their birthday but now I might just have to try it. Take care!
